7/18/07 News
It's been a busy week so far regarding press on FUTURE 86, and more specifically the commercial we shot for 1-800-OK-CABLE. First the article in the LA Times (yep Los Angeles, where the commercial doesn't even air) and now today there's one in the New York Observer. Didn't bother linking the LA Times article as the "fact checking" done by the publication was mediocre at best but it's kind of an entertaining read for anyone who actually knows any of the band's touring history and discography (playing sold out shows at the Whisky a Go-Go in West Hollywood, CBGB in NYC, & at NAMM in Anaheim, CA isn't exactly just playing pubs in NJ & CT, but I digress). The New York Observer article can be read by clicking here. Funny thing about the commercial & all the hoopla currently surrounding it in the media... ours was not the first with an "undiscovered" band advertising cable in our region, but it sure seems to be getting the most attention and airtime.

6/29/07 News

Turns out they want it all in the Netherlands too! We just got back from another show at The Half Shell in Virginia Beach, and boy was it a Party! The vibe was totally upbeat & the crowd was again, the best any band could ask for. After a most boisterous show, we piled into the van along with Bully drummer, Beverly, & headed over to the rehearsal studio tocontinue the party long after last call with a very late night/early morning jam session. Beverly, Ron & I traded spots behind the drums, and were joined by a few studio cats and the promoter's teenage son on guitar... but the shining moment had to bewhen Courtney climbed behind the drums and belted out some serious time. Andya'll thought she was just a singer huh? Thanks to Chris & Frank for putting us on the bill with a fantastic all-female line-up consisting of, Catspaw (New York), Level-C(Cleveland), and Bully (Virginia). We'll be back down there again very soon sometime this summer!

12/12/05 News    Back from Miami & Virginia!

Well everybody... we just got back from our Southern East Coast Tour, where we had an absolute load of fun. In addition to swimming in the ocean & pools, knocking back rum runners & drunken monkeys, and just plain layin' out in the sun, we played 9 nights out of the past ten -four in Virgina, four in the Miami area, and capped it off with a benefit show back in New York! Can't think of anywhere better to be in mid December. We didn't know quite what to expect, because this was our first trip down to the Southeast, but everyone along the way was amazing! The other bands we played with were great, and every single night the crowd was totally supportive and into the show. I want to thank all the people that bought our CDs and T-Shirts this past week -you guys & gals made our trip so much easier, our van is one gas guzzler! We have so many stories to tell from this road trip -like partyin' with the mayor of Lauderdale by the Sea & taking part in the town's tree lighting... expect tales a plenty when Armand hands in his On the Road Tour Journal! For those of you who endured the recent snowfall in the northeast, we do have several shows coming up this week back in our home base. We'll be at the Orange Lantern in Paramus this Friday Night as well as ROTHKO in NYC on Tuesday the 20th. And for our new friends down south, we hope to see you all again on our return trip in March! Happy Holidays everybody! Extra special thanks to the area promoters who did such a great job and made us feel so at home -Chris in Virginia, Tony in South Beach, Cosmo in Miami, & of course, Sir Frank Wood.

11/29/05 News
Huge thanks to everyone who came out and rocked with us on Thanksgiving Eve. The OL was absolutely slammed, so much so that the bar asked us to perform a regular show as opposed to the scheduled Live Karaoke we were supposed to host. Sorry for anyone who came out and didn't get a chance to sing, but don't fret... this Wednesday, November 30th you'll get your chance!! Be sure to come hang out with us & give us a proper send-off for our Southern East Coast Tour that kicks off this Friday in Virginia!!

Last Friday night at the OL was nuts! Screamin' Ink Tattoo hosted the night and held a tattoo contest when the clock struck midnight. The place was crazy busy, and everybody had a great time. And, yes, I did get a tattoo, but it was only a temp... Coors Light also sponsored the event, and they were hooking everybody without real ink up as well, so no one felt like they weren't part of the party. Thanks so much to the Orange Lantern for having us be a part of such a great pre-holiday bash!

We'll be back there this Wednesday, Thanksgiving Eve, the busiest bar night of the year, hosting Live Rock and Roll Karaoke so if you want to start off the Holiday Season with a big bang baby, you had better come down! The place is gonna be packed so be sure to get there early for sign-up. Happy Thanksgiving everybody!! -Courtney

11/6/05 News    Welcome to November!!

This weekend was amazing!!! We just got home from the ING NYC Marathon... and we had such a great time! The weather was amazing, which was wonderful after all the rain and cold we had during the Forest of Fear. And the crowd was awesome!!! We recognized so many faces in the crowd -thanks to everybody that came out! You helped make Central Park Rock!

Saturday Night at Kites started early for us -we decided to get there hours before the show so that we could check out the pool and the hot tub. Once the night going rolling, we kept playing until 1:30am, and everybody would have kept going after that, were we not told that it had to be last call... oh well, we'll keep the party going next time!!! Thanks to everybody that helped us make some noise -especially our "I Love Weezer" crew- you definately made it a night to remember.

In the area, we have the Orange Lantern coming up very soon & we hope to see you all there! Also, be sure to check out our new Wednesday Night Event, ROCKSTAR KARAOKE hosted by FUTURE 86, starting November 16th!! -Courtney

10/2/05 News    Who's ready for the Forest of Fear???

We hit NYC, took a mini trip to Boston for the NEMO Music Festival, and finally arrived back home around 4 o'clock this afternoon. The weekend started early at one of our favorite haunts in the heart of the Village, The Continental. A great party night out on the town, it reminded us of how cool it is to live and play in NYC before hitting the road early Friday morning to visit our east coast sister city. Boston is a beautiful town, and all the more so because of the awesome weather we had this weekend -sunny, not to hot, not too cold.We met so many people this weekend -some in the industry, some new found friends... so glad we went! And, the weekend was the perfect way to close out the summer season and get us ready for next week's opening of the Forest of Fear. For anybody that has already been there, we don't have to tell you how cool the Forest is. It is such an awesome way to kick off the Fall and celebrate Halloween. We will be there every Friday, Saturday and Sunday this month; there's plenty of time for you to get in on the action! And for those of you who have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of more Future 86 Merch, we will have shirts and baseball jerseys, sweatshirts, a new CD, and lots more cool stuff on hand!!  -Courtney

9/26/05 News
Check out all the new pictures!! We spent the first part of the weekend with photographer Jeff Forney, wandering around the Village, laughing, drinking Corona, and catching a few images on film. So wander around the site, and check it out! And be sure to attend the Post Photo Shoot Party, this Thursday at the Continental on Third Avenue and St. Mark's Place. It's early (only 9:15pm), so that leaves plenty of time to live it up around town before bedtime. We'll see you there!

This weekend rocked! First off, I must say that although last night was a very, very late night for a Monday, we learned who the true rockers are out there! We spent the night performing at the 2 year anniversary of Play, a very cool spot in Queens complete with bowling alleys, pool tables, huge big screen televisions, and a sick drink menu. After a couple buckets of Bud, we were ready to take the stage! Marianela from Fuse TV hosted the event, and a great time was had by all. It was a very cool nightclub atmosphere and a huge contrast to where we had played on Saturday! We spent that night at the John Jay Homestead Barn Dance, complete with bushels of hay, swimming pig races, hot dogs, and more... The guest list was impressive, and we were on a high all weekend after selling cds to some pretty large celebrities of note. The night was absolutely beautiful (with a full moon, too!), the perfect atmosphere for an end of summer bbq hoedown. Think that all sounds lke fun?!? Then don't miss out on what's coming up next. We are taking on the Whiskey Bar in Hoboken this Thursday night. Its a show we are very excited about, so don't miss it! Details are on the tour page, so be sure to get all the info. See you there!  -Courtney

Another great night at Kites! Kites is like a miniretreat, with two huge pools (and a cave, we found out!), a tiki bar,a juice bar, and... horesbackriding! That was a part I missed lasttime, but Armand decided to try it out this weekend; I guess themountains brought out the little cowboy in our drummer. But, onto theMain Event: Saturday Night rocked, even harder than last time. Thebar was completely packed and included two bachelorette parties and awedding afterparty that was not at all ready to call it a night. Weplayed way after last call -the staff told us we could keep playing ifwe wanted, but didn't realize that we could go all night! Thanks toeveryone for making the night so awesome. For anyone who missed it, you missed a great party! But, have no fear... we will be back at the Orange Lantern this Saturday Night. Armand is spending the last week of summer at the beach, so if you think he has a lot ofenergy now, you should see him after a vacation! The Orange Lanternhas no cover charge, so come on out for 4 full sets of Rock n' Roll!  -Courtney

8/22/05 News
What a long & full weekend! Finally back home after being on the road for the past three days, but what a trip it was. We started off at John and Peter's, a night early this time for the Red Rover Personality Crisis Dance Party. J & P's was all decked out with disco balls, flashing red lights and tulle, & more, which made the place seem slightly foreign, but still very cool. Everybody was dancing and it set up our mood for the rest of the weekend. We took over John and Peter's the next night, and brought in a little Rock n' Rol -not really a dance party, but everybody was dancing all the same! It's always a good time at J & P's... The next day, after staying up until the wee hours of the morning, we figured we needed some sustenance, so we had lunch at Meil's, a little place Josh told us about. The food there was amazing -and for anybody in the New Hope/Lambertville area, I fully recommend it! And, for everybody that decided not to stay the night -you seriously missed out!

After lunch, we set off on our trek to Eli's. The journey was long and filled with adventure (there was a car on fire on the highway!) but once we arrived, all was well. We rocked out for three more sets to finish the weekend before heading off to another great afterparty. And I got to ride the bartender's motorcycle the whole way there! Thanks Mike!  -Courtney

8/17/05 News    Courtney's NorthShore Cruefest Reflections...

Cleveland was awesome! We just got back from our third annual trek to the Midwest, and it was incredibly worth it. NorthShore Cruefest rocked as usual with a great lineup including the Backseat Superstars, Chaos in Creation, Toxin, the Erotics, and Neil Wharton's Rock and Roll Junkies. Angi (the coordinator of the event) became an official junkie this year (finally!) and so did Neil -who came prepared this year with a cowbell of his very own. It was so great to see everybody again -Angi, Neil, Mike Trash and Billy, Kari Lynn, Cat, Lola, and the rest of the gang (Cat looked great this year, by the way! And Billy -I loved the Glitter!). One thing, though, that I have to mention -the club was so hot!!! Now, some of you that missed out might think I mean that the club was "hot" but this time I don't mean it metaphorically. The temperature this past weekend was pretty fierce, and the a/c seemed to have gone AWOL at the club... You know the TV commercial with the girl dancing, dressed in leather, dripping with sweat? That was pretty much all of us on Friday Night. But I tell you what -it was a night I will never forget. And the band learned something, too... if we ever doubted it, now we know for sure -we've got some serious stamina!! Whatever you got, bring it on, baby!

There was also a special addition to the trip the trip this year, Future 86 at the Hard Rock Cafe! It did mean that the band played 5 sets within 20 hours, complete with three set ups and tear downs -but hey, that's rock n' roll! At the Hard Rock, the crowd was enthusiastic, the staff was dancing, and we had a great time. Jaime caught some of the show on video, and we can't wait to see it.

One last note:

We all know that NorthShore Cruefest, in addition to being a really fun event, is also a benefit for the Skylar Neil Foundation, a foundation in tribute of Vince Neil's daughter (and Neil Wharton's sister) Skylar, who died at a very young age. The foundation was set up after her death to help children with Leukemia, cancer and AIDS, and all proceeds from Cruefest are donated to the foundation. So, thanks to everyone for coming, not only to have a kick-ass time, but for helping support a great cause!

8/15/05 News    Cleveland Rocks!

We're back from Cleveland where we played over five full sets of rock spread out over 3 shows in less than a 21 hour time frame after only a couple hours of sleep, tons of partying, and a club with no running a/c... in other words, we had a great time! Will post a full re-cap after a brief recovery period. Don't forget to come out and see us this Friday at John & Peter's in New Hope, PA, and this Saturday at Eli's on Whitney in Hamden, CT!

Our first show at Kites last Friday was an incredible time! Even though we were a little skeptical on the drive out there, passing through the ever wacky Township that is West Milford, NJ (not to mention driving right by infamously creepy Clinton Road) once we finally arrived at Minerals Resort we knew it was gonna be a great night. Be sure to come out on Saturday, August 27th, for our next show at Kites! The next night we returned to the Corner Pocket for this year's MotleyFest and played a rockin' set to a very eager & enthusiastic crowd. For those Connecticut locals who caught us for the first time & wanna see us again, we'll be back in the area on Saturday, August 20th, playing all night at Eli's on Whitney in Hamden.

1/27/05 News   Courtney's NAMM 2005 Reflections

This weekend was awesome!! It started out Thursday Night at the Knitting Factory, where we held the Official CD Release Party for our new album, "After Party". We hit the stage at 8:45pm and had a great show; the place was packed and full of energy. There was so much love and support in the room from all of our friends and fans -thank you guys so much, it really means the world to us!! We didn't sleep at all that night because of our early Friday morning flight, but we didn't care... we were heading out for our West Coast CD Release Party and the NAMM Convention in Anaheim!

When we arrived at the airport in California, the trip had definitely begun. The airport exit was lined with palm trees, and the sun immediately started to melt away the frost and cold we were feeling just hours before back in NYC. We knew it was gonna be an awesome time when we ran into some friends and got our first sponsorship offer before we even stepped foot in the convention center! We met people from every great guitar, bass, amplifier, and drum company imaginable and also made some very cool new friends in other areas of the music industry. We are in the process of drawing up contracts for a bunch of new sponsorships, so be on the lookout for members of Future 86 in ads nationwide! I have so many business cards from people I met this weekend -if any of you are reading this, I will be in touch with you soon!

The parties that started with the convention's close at 6pm each night were overwhelming -both the general hangin' out in the Hilton Lobby as well as the invitation-only events that took place upstairs. The atmosphere rocked because there was always music blasting everywhere we went. It was so packed when the convention ended each day that you couldn't move and it stayed that way until security ushered everyone out and towards their rooms at the end of each night. There were too many recognizable musicians wandering around to count or to name, but my favorites to meet had to be the members from Aerosmith and Cheap Trick -it was so cool to see so many musicians in one place. And it was cool that everyone was there to network, so conversations were effortless, everybody was in a great mood, and phone numbers were being handed out all over the place.

After the convention was over, we moved on to the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood. We became familiar with the area on our last trip out to L.A., when we played to a packed house at the Whisky a Go-Go. This time we played at the Cat Club, and in attendance that night were members from Beautiful Creatures, Brides of Destruction, Type O Negative, as well as an ex-member of Cheap Trick. A bunch of them got up on stage to jam, and we had a great time. Although most bars close at 2 in California, the place was still packed at 4am, and somehow we eventually made it to our hotel, totally happy but totally exhausted. We, thankfully, did not have to get up Monday morning, so we slept and slept and slept until noon, and lazily packed before checking out at 2pm. Monday we roamed the area and ate at one of our favorite Hollywood spots before filming a segment for a national TV show on the Horizon network. From the studio we went straight to the airport, our great trip finally over.

I love to travel, and as a result of this weekend, we will be going to NXNE and SXSW, which I am so excited about! We have also made plans to play in L.A. again in June, so all the Future 86 fans who have been writing to us about playing other parts of the country, let us know where you would like us to stop along the way! This trip was definitely a great way to start the year and has already begun to set our pace for the upcoming months. There is going to be so much going on for us, so make sure to check back for all the details!! And, lastly, once again, to everybody who has given us so much love and so much support, thank you so much. We wouldn't be doing what we love to do if it weren't for you... we really appreciate all that you have given us, and hope we can do really exciting things together this year! We'll have pictures of the trip up soon!!

1/25/05 News

Just got back from NAMM 2005 and it was absolutely incredible!! Got way too little sleep & our feet are sore as hell, but we met lots of great people, had more fun than should be allowed, and got hooked up beyond belief!
